As April draws to a close and we begin the month of May, there are plenty of great family activities to participate in around Grove City! From taking part in local environmental efforts to the Mayor’s Cup Golf Outing, there is bound to be something for every member of the family.
Here are five of the many great activities happening around Grove City in May. If we missed any, post about them and share the news with your neighbors!
Community Environmental Day
Protecting our planet doesn’t stop with Earth Day! Keep Grove City Beautiful with the city’s tenth annual Community Environmental Day! On Saturday May 7th, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, stop by the Jackson Township Administration Building and help do your part for the environment. If your family has been slowly stockpiling those hard-to-recycle items, bring your unwanted items in for greener disposal.
Ohio Mobile Shredding will be on-site to securely destroy your sensitive documents, and Cinco Electronics Recycling will collect any electronics or appliances including computers, printers, mobile phones and CPUs. If you have some old goods lying around the house that you’ve been meaning to donate, Habitat for Humanity will also be there to collect your goods and home improvement building materials to make sure that they find a great second home!
And of course, Schmidt’s Food Truck will be there at lunchtime (11:00 AM to 1:00 PM) so you can enjoy a nice meal and snack after your hard work.
Herb, Perennial, Landscape Plant and Tree Sale
Going strong for now 23 years, the Gardens and Gantz volunteers will be putting on Grove City’s Annual Herb, Perennial, Landscape Plant and Tree Sale at our very own Gantz Park on Saturday, May 7th from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Whether you consider yourself an advanced botanist or if you are looking for a bit of healthy greenery to liven up your home, there will be something for everyone.
The sale offers a wide range of culinary herbs, landscaping plants, rain garden plants and native perennials. If you are looking for trees or bushes to spruce up the outside of your home, Five Spring Farms will be at the sale with their variety of plants.
Come rain or shine, visit the Plant and Tree sale and take advantage of our local green thumbs!
